Leadership

THE ISSUE:

A recent issue in the field of business is the “new normal” because of a global pandemic. Many people adapted to working from home and may not be willing to return back, to the offices. Working from home has had an effect on employee efficiency. Employees find themselves in the comfort of their own homes and may not feel the restrictions from working in the office, such as dressing appropriately and being monitored. They also may find themselves with extra responsibility for their families as schools switched to virtual learning. These environmental factors may not be adequate for working efficiently. They may face more than they would if they were in the office. Loss of efficiency due to the pandemic has affected businesses across the world immensely. Many of the businesses shut down, affecting the sales, production rate, and, of course, the efficiency of an ideal worker.

THE GENERAL RECOMMENDATION:

I have noticed some major impacts as my aunt owns many businesses. Some of her business started offering only window service/ drive through in all their motels, so the employees working there would chill in the back room because they knew the customers could not come into the office and would ring the doorbell when they were at the window. This has led to a decrease in the quality of service one would expect.

I believe our governor should develop a strict plan for assigning the employees back to working face to face in the office.  We can strictly send all the employees back to normal working conditions to combat back the lost the businesses have had over the past year.

A big problem that could arise would be the number of people getting unemployment benefits from the government, they actually get so much money from what they would actually earn. That’s the reason people don’t want to go to work and into normal working conditions. The government such cut off the unemployment amount to reduce the number of unemployed American and fix the economics losses.  A problem that arose in the current COVID pandemic affecting businesses may be the number of people getting unemployment benefits from the government. The government can cut off the unemployment benefit amount to reduce the number of unemployed Americans and fix the economic losses. Moreover, vaccination should be available more easily without any delays for any age group. Businesses could establish online orders and curbside provisions for any future pandemics.

Once the changes are made and these new ideas are implemented, all businesses can request for a monthly report from their location. This would allow businesses to compare any profits or increases in business they may have had over time or see if it lowers their losses. We would see if the economy is blooming and money is circulating in the market according to if these plans would work well.
